IoT Trust Framework Released - Momentum Growing

The Online Trust Alliance’s IoT Trust Framework is rapidly evolving to be the foundation of an international effort to integrate security, privacy and sustainability in IoT devices and services. Developed over the past twelve months, the Framework represents collective input from over 100 organizations who, through a multi-stakeholder process, established a baseline Framework of 30 essential criteria.

OTA Finds 46% of IRS Free eFile Sites Fail to Adequately Protect Consumers

The Online Trust Alliance (OTA), today announced the results of its 2016 IRS Free E-File Audit & Honor Roll. The audit evaluates the privacy, security and consumer protection practices of the thirteen IRS-approved free e-filing tax services. After an assessment based on nearly 50 criteria, standards and internationally accepted privacy practices, six of the 13 websites or 46 percent failed due to poor site security and not taking steps to help protect consumers from fraudulent and malicious email.

2015 Email Unsub Audit Report - Retailers & Presidential Candidates

Today, the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) released the 2015 OTA Email Unsubscribe Audit, analyzing which leading e-commerce sites are enabling consumers to easily opt out of email. 75 percent of the top 200 online retailers moved beyond compliance, demonstrating a commitment to user empowerment and control of their inboxes. These companies have been named to the 2015 Unsubscribe Honor Roll, recognizing excellence in marketing practices. Download the report.

Only 30 Percent of Top Consumer Websites Rated

At the Internet Retailer Conference & Expo (IRCE), OTA released the results of the 2014 Online Trust Audit and brands which qualified for the 2014 Online Trust Honor Roll. Out of nearly 800 top consumer websites evaluated, 30.2 percent made the Honor Roll, distinguishing themselves by safeguarding data via best practices in three categories: domain/brand protection, privacy and security
